Meet Dr. Jim Poole, MD, FAAP

Founder of FastBraiin & Growing Child Pediatrics

Say Goodbye To The Stigma
And Hello To Your Potential!

I believe every ADHD individual was created with value &
ability -- what I call FastBraiin.

Hi, I’m Dr. Jim — and yes, I have FastBraiin! For more than four decades, I’ve had the privilege of helping children, families, and adults navigate the often confusing, and sometimes discouraging, world of ADHD. What I’ve learned along the way has completely changed how I see the condition — not as a disorder, but as a unique and powerful way of thinking. Those of us who are FastBraiin don’t need to blend in with the rest of the world. We need to embrace how our minds work — to develop our strengths, to be grateful and excited about who we are, and to share our gifts with the world.

The Story Behind FastBraiin

I founded FastBraiin in 2010 with a simple but radical belief: people with ADHD aren’t broken — they’re built differently, and brilliantly. I wanted to create an approach that celebrated fast, creative, and adaptable minds rather than trying to slow them down. Over the years, FastBraiin has helped more than 6,000 students move from C’s and D’s to A/B honor roll and over 2,000 adults improve their focus, productivity, and relationships at home and at work. But this didn’t happen overnight. The philosophy behind FastBraiin grew out of a lifetime of experience — listening to thousands of families, learning from my own ADHD journey, and drawing inspiration from my father, Dr. Frank Poole, a fellow pediatrician who taught me to value every person, no matter their background or challenges.

A Life of Service and Innovation

Before founding FastBraiin, I created Growing Child Pediatrics, one of North Carolina’s largest and most respected pediatric practices. I also helped pioneer major childcare innovations in the state — developing the first 5-star childcare centers, the first sick-child care center, and Camp Challenge, a summer camp for children with asthma. My advocacy has even reached the national stage. I’ve had the honor of testifying before the U.S. Senate and Senator Ted Kennedy, helping bring childcare and child health to the forefront of the political conversation.

A Physician. A Teacher. A Lifelong Learner.

I graduated from Clemson University and the Medical University of South Carolina, completed my pediatric residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, and later served as Chief of Pediatrics at the Army Hospital in Stuttgart, Germany.Throughout my medical career, one truth has always stood out: when we understand and build on our strengths — especially the fast, curious, high-energy ones — we unlock our full potential.

Beyond the Practice

When I’m not working with families or speaking about ADHD, you can find me playing in tennis tournaments, golfing, and enjoying all kinds of sports with my wife, three sons, and grandchildren.FastBraiin is more than a program — it’s a movement to change how the world sees ADHD. It’s about helping every fast mind realize that what they once thought was their greatest weakness is, in fact, their greatest strength.
