While medications are often over-emphasized in dealing with ADHD, diet and exercise are often overlooked. That's why at FastBraiin Success Centers, we work closely with our clients to make certain they get the proper balance of diet and exercise to maximize their focus and attention span.
We stress eating a good breakfast -- one with "slow" carbohydrates like whole grain breads and proteins like peanut butter -- for long-lasting energy. Actually, it's imperative to have a good diet throughout the day to ensure the brain works at its best. The brain does not store energy, as it must rely on what is in the blood stream, and proper nutrition is a proven program to help us learn and remember.
We also stress regular, vigorous exercise to complement a good diet. Exercise is not only just good for our muscles; it's good for our brains. Exercise helps increase dopamine and norepinephrine, two brain chemicals directly related to improvement in focus and attention. Exercise also improves the release of serotonin, which helps fight off depression. These brain chemicals allow clients to focus more intensely on their tasks without losing interest.
Together, diet and exercise play a huge role in turning ADHD difficulty into FastBraiin success!
